Mount McCauley is a prominent and 1350 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . It rises up between Mount Scherger and Mount Dummett on the northern flank of Fisher Glacier in the Prince Charles Mountains .
It was discovered in 1956 during an overflight as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . Participants in this series of expeditions paid a visit to the mountain in 1960. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) named him after Air Marshal John Patrick Joseph McCauley (1899-1989), commander in chief of the Royal Australian Air Force between 1954 and 1957.
