Mount Mooney is a 2850 m high mountain in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It rises on the northern edge of the La Gorce Mountains above the middle section of the Robison Glacier .
It was discovered in December 1934 by the geological team around Quin Blackburn (1900-1981) on the second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935) of the US polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd .
