Mount Sumner is a 1300 m high mountain in the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises at the southeast end of the Rare Range .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1961 to 1967. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1968 after Joseph Wilbur Sumner, plumber at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in 1964.
