Mozart Fountain (Vienna)
The Mozart Fountain , also known as the Magic Flute Fountain , is a fountain on Mozartplatz in Vienna's 4th district of Wieden .
The fountain was built in 1905 during the tenure of Mayor Karl Lueger . The design , which won an award in 1900, comes from the architect Otto Schönthal , the sculptor was Carl Wollek . The fountain is intended to commemorate the world premiere of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte , which took place in 1791 in the Freihaus theater on the Wieden . The bronze group shows Tamino and Pamina, the main characters of the Magic Flute .
