The Muddy River (English for "muddy river") is a 87 km long left tributary of Birch Creek in Alaska (USA).

The Muddy River forms the drain of Lake Minchumina . He leaves the lake on its southeastern shore. From the right an arm of the Foraker River , which mostly feeds Lake Minchumina, flows into the Muddy River. This flows initially to the northeast, later to the south through a lake landscape of the Tanana-Kuskokwim lowlands . The river shows a strongly meandering behavior. Finally, the Muddy River flows into Birch Creek, 2 km above its junction with the McKinley River to form the Kantishna River .
