Muhammad Abdul Aziz Khan

Muhammad Abdul Aziz Khan (born February 1, 1931 in Ramnagar , Pabna District , Bengal Presidency , British India ; died March 28, 2012 in Dhaka ) was a Bangladeshi botanist and university professor .

Career

Muhammad Abdul Aziz Khan studied botany at the University of Dhaka and graduated with a Master of Science degree in 1951 . In the same year he joined the botanical faculty of his university as a research assistant, which made him Lecturer in 1955 , Senior Lecturer in 1964 and Reader in 1969. In 1965 he received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge.

1973 Khan became Associate Professor and head of the newly established Institute of Botany at the University of Chittagong . In 1974 he became a full professor and until 1981 he headed his institute. During this time he founded the university's botanical garden. From 1980 to 1981 Khan was Dean of the Faculty of Science and from 1981 to 1985 Vice Chancellor of the University of Chittagong.

Khan researched mainly on the physiology of plants, ecology , horticulture and agriculture . He has published more than 75 articles in national and international journals and authored four textbooks.
