Muhammad Sodiq Muhammad Yusuf

Muhammad Sodiq Muhammad Yusuf (born April 15, 1952 in Andijon , Uzbek SSR ; † March 10, 2015 in Tashkent , Uzbekistan) was an Islamic theologian and was considered the "unofficial spiritual leader of Islam in Uzbekistan". He was the first mufti after the independence of Uzbekistan and Grand Mufti of the "Muslim Spiritual Administration of Central Asia".

Life

He studied first at the Mir-i Arab Madrasa in Bukhara and at the Imam-al-Bukhari Institute in Tashkent , then in Libya . He emerged as a translator and commentator on the Koran . Its aim was the gradual but complete Islamization of Uzbek society.

Most of his writings are published in Kyrgyzstan , in the publishing house of the Islamic Center Osh in the city of Kara-Suu in the south of the country in Uzbek and Russian .

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( english A Common Word Between Us and You ), the Islamic personalities "Christian leader churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ...") sent (October 13, 2007).
