Muhammad al-Hassan Ould al-Dadaw ( Arabic محمد الحسن ولد الددو الشنقيطي, DMG Muḥammad al-Ḥasan walad ad-Dadaw aš-Šanqīṭī ; born October 31, 1963 in Boutilimit ), also known as Shaykh Muhammad al-Hasan al-Dedew , is a Mauritanian Islamic theologian and legal scholar , anti-Israel activist and thinker. He is known for his religious and Islamic lectures, his memorization of numerous works, etc. a. the six canonical collections of hadiths of the Prophet and the mastery of more than 50 "sciences of Islam". He also received several ijāza in all ten readings of the Koran .

He is a member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars . In his opinion, Muslims should be armed with nuclear weapons in order to achieve a balance, as is the case in Pakistan. Some sources document anti-Semitic statements and extremist activities. His opposition to the Mauritanian government is expressed in his support for the Tewassoul party and heightened the country's internal political tensions.

Life path

In 2007 he founded the "Center for the Training of Islamic Scholars" ( Markaz Takwīn al-ʿUlamāʾ ) in Nouakchott . The course there lasts 17 years and for advanced students one of the prerequisites to start there is to present two ijāza in two readings of the Koran .

He is co-founder of the University of the Future for Daʿwa and Teaching ( Ǧāmiʿat al-Mustaqbal li-d-daʿwa wa-t-taʿlīm ) as well as co-founder and president of the Islamic Abdullah-bin-Yasin University, which is recognized for its extensive range of sciences as courses is known.

academic career

Dadaw comes from a family of scholars. His uncle is the Koran exegete Muhammad al-Amin al-Shanqiti and his grandfather is Muhammad Salim ʿAbd al-Wadud . He received numerous ijāza for hadith due to his study visits in his homeland as well as Saudi Arabia , Egypt , Levant , Morocco , Yemen and India . In 1986 he completed his studies in Mauritania with a bachelor's degree and was one of the best graduates in the country. Two years later, he moved to Riyadh , where he completed his master's degree at Muhammad bin Saʿud University.

He also took part in teaching sessions of the former Saudi Arabian Mufti ʿAbd al-Aziz ibn Baz , as well as Muhammad ibn al-Uthaymin and the hadith scholar Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani and had academic discussions with them and with Abdullah al-Rukban and Salih al-Luhaidan.
