Cerro de San Pedro is a municipality in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí . The municipality covers an area of 122.9 km². In 2010, Cerro de San Pedro had a population of 4021 inhabitants. The administrative seat of the municipality is the Cerro de San Pedro of the same name , while Portezuelo is the most populous town .
The municipality of Cerro de San Pedro has the smallest population in the state as well as one of the smallest in area.
Cerro de San Pedro was first mentioned as a municipality in 1830. It lost this status twice in between. Cerro de San Pedro has been a municipality since 1953.

The municipality of Cerro de San Pedro is located in the center of the state of San Luis Potosí on the border with the Zona Metropolitana de San Luis Potosí , the agglomeration around the capital of the state, at an altitude between 1800 m and 2500 m . It is largely located in the physiographic province of the Mesa del Centro , parts in the north of the municipality belong to the Sierra Madre Oriental . Almost all of the municipality is located in the hydrological region of El Salado , with only about three percent of the municipal area draining into the Gulf of Mexico via the Río Pánuco . Geologically, the municipality is made up of approx. 46.5% sedimentary rock (20% limestone, 18% lutite limestone , 8.5% conglomerate ), approx. 33% extrusive rock (26% rhyolite , 7% tuff ) and 20.5% Alluvions together. Soil type of 75% of the municipality is the Leptosol , followed by 21% Durisol . More than 40% of the community area is covered by scrub, a good 30% is pasture land, a good 20% is used for arable farming.
The municipality of Cerro de San Pedro borders the municipalities of Soledad de Graciano Sánchez , Armadillo de los Infante , Zaragoza and San Luis Potosí .

In the 2010 census, 4021 people in 950 residential units were counted in the municipality. Five of them were registered as speakers of an indigenous language . About seven percent of the population was illiterate. 1476 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which approx. 74% were men and 4% were unemployed. A good four percent of the population lived in extreme poverty.
