Tizayuca is a municipality in the Mexican state of Hidalgo . The seat of the municipality is Tizayuca of the same name . The community had 97,461 inhabitants in 2010, its area is 76.9 km² .

Tizayuca is the only Municipio Hidalgos to be included in the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México .

Tizayuca is located in the south of the state of Hidalgo, about 50 km north of Mexico City .

The municipality borders the municipality Tolcayuca in the north and is otherwise surrounded by the state of México .
