The Munter is a steamship that was built for regular services on the Swedish Åsunden .
history
The iron-built ship was built by Count Erik Sparre von Torpa bei Ulricehamn for the transport of passengers on the Åsunden in Västergötland in 1879 at Lidköpings Mekaniska Verkstad in Lidköping . The boat was sold to Åsundens Trafikförening in 1910 and taken to the Yngaren , where it was used for freight and passenger traffic until 1943.
The ship remained on Yngaren until 1955, when it was converted into a tug for timber transport. Then the Munter was brought to the Båven . During this time there were considerable changes, the adaptation for the task as a timber tractor required modifications to the bow and stern. The steam engine was replaced by a diesel engine.
The Munter was launched in 2002 in Sparreholm . A museum association was founded there ( Swedish Ångslupen Munters vänner ), which began with the extensive and thorough renovation of the ship. The reconstruction of the superstructure took place in a historical way when it was in use as a passenger ship.
The ship is operated with steam in the renovated condition and used for touring and charter trips on the Yngaren. On May 28, 2011, the Munter was put into operation by the District President Bo Konberg.
The Munter is classified as a vehicle cultural monument ( Swedish Kulturmärkning av fartyg i Sverige ) of the State Marine Museums.
