Munyo Solomon Mutai (born October 22, 1992 in Bukwo ) is a Ugandan long-distance runner .

Mutai started running in 2009 while he was in school. He achieved the first notable results in 2012 with second place at the Kampala half marathon in 1:01:26 hours and 26th place at the World Half Marathon Championships in Kawarna in 1:04:21 hours. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, he narrowly missed a medal in the marathon when he finished fourth, three seconds behind his compatriot Abraham Kiplimo, who was third.

In April 2015, Mutai set a new personal best by finishing fourth in the Hanover Marathon with 2:10:42 hours. He celebrated his greatest international success to date four months later. At the World Championships in Beijing , he surprisingly won the bronze medal in the marathon in 2:13:30 hours. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he finished 8th in the marathon.

In March 2017, Mutai increased his personal best in the Lake Biwa Marathon to 2:09:59 hours and finished third. At the World Championships in London in August he was eleventh in 2:13:29 hours over the marathon distance. In April 2018 he won the silver medal in the marathon at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in 2:19:02 hours behind the Australian Michael Shelley . At the Shanghai Marathon in November, he finished sixth with a new personal best of 2:09:27 hours.

At the Vienna City Marathon 2019, Mutai increased his best performance again to 2:08:25 hours and thus finished third in the race.
