The Army Museum is currently located in the Alcázar , the historic fortress of Toledo, and an extension built there (picture) . It was opened in 2010 by Felipe , the then Prince of Asturias ( Spanish Príncipe de Asturias ) and today's King of Spain . Historically, it was created through the amalgamation of various Spanish military museums that were created during the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century . The beginnings go back to 1803, when the Royal Spanish Military Museum was founded in the Palacio de Monteleón in Madrid .
