Building

Projection at the Museum for Architectural Drawings in Berlin

The building of the Museum of Architectural Drawing, designed by the Moscow architectural office SPEECH Tchoban & Kuznetsov and completed in 2013, presents itself as a four-storey concrete building with a glass penthouse. The cubature of the four floors is reminiscent of a loose stack of blocks or boxes. The closed facade is decorated with greatly enlarged fragments of architectural sketches in relief. The line drawings and the color of the exposed concrete should refer to the use of the building as an exhibition space for architectural drawings. The museum shop and library are on the ground floor. Cabinets in which changing exhibitions are shown have been created on the first and second floors. The museum depot is on the third floor. For conservation reasons, window openings were dispensed with on all three floors of the collection. The foundation's office is located on the transparent penthouse. Of the total of almost 450 square meters that the building covers, around 200 square meters are allocated to the exhibition space, including the museum cash desk and library.
