Musical show star 2008
Musical Showstar 2008 was a talent show that was carried out on ZDF in 2008 . The casting show was moderated by Thomas Gottschalk .
A casting show was broadcast daily from March 31st to April 3rd, in which the jurors selected ten finalists from among the participants for the final rounds. In three live final shows, viewers televoted a male and a female winner, who were offered the leading roles of Rusty and Pearl in the musical Starlight Express .

All ten candidates opened the live show with the joint song "Fame" from the musical Fame of the same name .

In the first live show, Kaj Alexander Binder and Navina Heyne were eliminated.
Rolando Villazón and Ute Lemper were guests on Gottschalk's sofa . At the end she sang the song Cabaret from the musical Cabaret of the same name .

All eight candidates opened the live show on roller skates with a medley from Starlight Express.

Petter Bjällö and Sarah Medina were eliminated. Celebrities Meat Loaf and the American Helen Schneider accompanied the program. The latter also had its own appearance with a German version of Don't Cry For Me, Argentina from the musical Evita . Kevin Köhler's performance of As seduced by a dream from the musical Joseph was accompanied by the children's choir “Kids on Stage”.

The final on April 18, 2008 in Cologne was won by the 24-year-old math and sports student Anna-Maria Schmidt from Bernshausen near Göttingen and the 21-year-old Kevin Köhler from Oer-Erkenschwick . Celebrities George Hamilton and Rolando Villazón accompanied the broadcast. Rolando Villazón also had her own appearance, as did the singer Sarah Brightman with the song Symphony , a cover version of the song Simphonie by the German band Silbermond . The final saw 3.81 million viewers, which corresponded to a market share of 14.8 percent.
A live orchestra and possibly a ballet ensemble supported the candidates. Uwe Kröger was himself the first German actor to cast Rusty in the Bochum production of Starlight Express .
Kevin Köhler then began his engagement as Rusty and has since been seen as the main actor in Bochum, while Anna-Maria-Schmidt realized during rehearsals that she was overwhelmed by engagement in a leading role. So she decided to finish her studies first.
