Musigliano is a district of the municipality of Cascina , Province of Pisa , Tuscany, Italy.

geography

Musigliano is about 7 km west of the capital Cascina and about 4.5 km east of the provincial capital Pisa . The regional capital of Florence is about 70 km to the east. The place has about 770 inhabitants. Musigliano borders on Ripoli , San Sisto and Pettori , also villages in the municipality of Cascina. All these villages as well as Musigliano are surrounded by the dike of the river Arno , which flows just north of the districts.

The village is dominated by agriculture. There is a primary school, a kindergarten, two stationery stores, a tobacco shop, a pizzeria, a butcher, a community pharmacy, a small football stadium, a bar and a cemetery.

Attractions

The Church of San Martino

San Martino , church / chapel in the center that belongs to Santo Stefano a Pettori (parish of San Lorenzo alle Corti). The church was consecrated on April 3, 1130 and first mentioned in writing on March 21, 1142. The rock of the church consists of Pietra verrucana , a metamorphic rock that was quarried on the nearby Monte Verruca (municipalities of Calci and Vicopisano ). On the right side is a holy water font from the 16th / 17th century. Century made of marble as well as a statue of Catherine of Alexandria , which was placed here in a wall niche in the 18th century.
