Musaf
Musaf (תְּפִלַּת מוּסָף, "additional prayer") is a Jewish prayer that is added to the morning prayer ( Shacharit ) at certain times .
description
Musaf is added to the morning prayer on the Sabbath , on the holidays of Rosh Chodesh , Passover , Shavuot , Sukkot , Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur . According to the provisions of the Shulchan Aruch on daily domestic and synagogue life, Musaf must be spoken until the seventh hour of the day. It was introduced along the lines of the sacrificial service in the temple .
Musaf consists mainly of the eighteen supplication (Amida). The memory concerns temples, temple sacrifices and other ritual acts in the temple, the destruction of the temple and the consequence of never being able to perform the corresponding rites again.
In Reform Judaism , this additional prayer is absent or is replaced by other prayers because it reminds of the tradition of sacrifice, which is rejected in Reform Judaism.
