Courage Aškur

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mut-Aškur ( Mut-Aschkur, Mut-Askur ) was a son of the Assyrian king Išme-Dagan I. According to the Assyrian king list , Aššur-dugul was the successor of Išme-Dagan. VAT 9812 on the other hand names Mut-Aškur and after him Re-mu- [x], both of which do not appear in the other lists. Benno Landsberger even accepts a third king after Re-mu- [x], whose name has not been preserved. Documents from Mari may confirm the Mut-Aškur government.

Gasche et al. assume, however, that Mut-Aškur and his successors only ruled Ekallatum , but not Aššur , perhaps in parallel with Aššur-dugul and his successors. Mut-Aškur may have been brought to the throne by Atumrum , an Elam puppet . His accession to the throne falls between the 31st and 33rd centuries. Year of reign of Hammurabi . According to medium chronology, this corresponds to around 1760 BC. Chr.

He and Re-mu- [x] ruled for 29 years; Reade puts them in his revised chronology from 1668 to 1640.
