Courage to Disaster is the second studio album by German pop singer Kerstin Ott . It was released on August 17, 2018 by Polydor / Universal Music .

History of origin

Like its predecessor, the album was written, recorded and produced in a team with producers Thorsten Brötzmann and Lukas Hainer .

The title was a gut decision and was decided before the recordings began. On her second album, the pop singer wanted to open up a little further emotionally. She dedicated the theme song to her spouse Karolina Köppen.

Publications

At the time of publication, the album was released as a deluxe edition with a bonus CD in addition to the normal version.

After the album was awarded a gold record (later followed by platinum), it was reissued on February 8, 2019 with two bonus tracks. It was a medley called Megamix and the duet version of rainbow colors with Helene Fischer .

Music genre

As on the first album, Kerstin Ott mixes Schlager with electronic dance music as well as pop music and folk . The acoustic guitar is also increasingly used on the album . The lyrics deal with typical hit topics such as love, friendship and home. However, she also writes about personal situations and real-life topics such as fear of the future. With the hip-hop song Lieb mich zurück she also released a rap duet with the rapper Chaingeless .

Rainbow colors was created as a duet with Helene Fischer and deals with the diversity of sexual identities . The title refers to the rainbow flag , which is considered a symbol of the lesbian and gay movement.

Single releases

After the two pre-singles Nur once noch and Lieb mich zurück did not reach the charts, their duet Rainbow Colors with Helene Fischer after Die immer laughs and Scheissmelodie became their third big hit. With more than 200,000 sales, the single achieved platinum status .
