Lifts and cable cars in the Mutteralmbahn ski area:
  • Muttereralmbahn (8-cabin monocable gondola lift)
  • Nockspitzbahn (8-person cabin monocable gondola lift)
  • Pfriemesköpfl (quad chairlift)
  • Almboden (pommel lift)
  • The Muttereralmbahn describes a ski area in the area of the Mutterer Alm near Mutters in Tyrol . The name is also used for the first gondola lift in this area .

    Old Railway (1953-2000)

In 1949, the first considerations were made to develop the popular ski run from the Mutterer Alm, which, however, could not be implemented due to lack of money. In December 1953 the first section Mutters- Nockhof was put into operation. The second section Nockhof – Mutterer Alm followed on January 6, 1954. The railway was designed as a two- cable gondola with 186 double chairs and a transport capacity of 600 people per hour.

In 1961, the double armchairs were exchanged for 101 plastic cabins with four seats. The transport performance drops to 450 people per hour. Due to the better development of the Axamer Lizum and Patscherkofelbahn for the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 , the frequency of the Muttereralmbahn decreased. For 1976 a deficit of 7 million schillings (around 1,600,000 euros today ) was given.

In 1979 the Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe took over the operation of the railway. In June 1993 the railway was sold to the Axamer Lizum Aufnahmungs-Aktiengesellschaft . The entire facility was dismantled in October 2000.

    New railways (since 2006)

    Muttereralmbahn

    BW

The closure of the business halved the number of overnight stays in Mutters and Natters. In February 2001 a project began to rebuild the Muttereralmbahn. It was originally planned to start operations in 2002. The start of construction was delayed several times due to an environmental impact assessment with objections. The ground-breaking ceremony took place on October 10, 2005, and operations began on January 5 , 2006.

The Götzen hotelier Helmuth Zach acted as an investor for the new building and founded the Muttereralm Bergbahnen GesmbH . After the railway's financial difficulties, it withdrew in 2011 and the municipalities of Mutters and Götzens and the tourism association took over the ski area.

The new 8-person single-cable gondola lift leads from the larch forest to the Mutterer Alm. It is 2801 m long and has a capacity of 2100 people per hour.

Similar to the old cable car, there are two sections, but you can only get on uphill in the middle station at Nockhof .

    Pfriemesköpfl

    4-seater chairlift Pfriemesköpfl

A four- person chairlift leads from just below the Mutterer Alm to the Pfrimesköpfl . It was built at the same time as the Muttereralmbahn, has a length of 737 m and a capacity of 2000 people / h. Before that, there was a fixed-grip 1-seater chairlift here. It extends the Muttereralmbahn to the mountain station of the Nockspitzbahn.

    Nockspitzbahn

    BW

In 2008, an eight-cabin monocable gondola was built near the center of Götzens ( 886  m above sea level ) up to the Pfriemesköpfl ( 1802  m above sea level ). This has a length of 3200 m and a capacity of 2000 people / h. Until December 2015 the lift was called Götznerbahn . At about 1270  m above sea level. A. there is an intermediate station that is only passed through by cabs going uphill.

    Almboden

    Almboden drag lift

The ski lift Almboden was against a platter lift replaced. Similar to the Pfriemesköpfl, this begins a little below the Muttereralm and is 538 m long and has a capacity of 700 people per hour.

    Others

At the Muttereralm mountain station there is a practice and children's ski area, which has had a conveyor belt (“magic carpet”) for children since winter 2011/12.

    Connection to other ski areas

From the Axamer Lizum there is a ski path from Birgitzköpfl through the rearmost Geroldsbach valley . The way to the Lizum currently requires the bus for skiers. A direct train into the Axamer Lizum via the Birgitzköpfl was planned for a while after long negotiations [out of date] , but (as of Feb. 2017) is not in concrete planning.

A merger of the Axamer Lizum with Schlick 2000 is controversial for nature conservation reasons ( Kalkkögel quiet area ) and is currently not in the planning.

    Driveways - accessibility

The Mutteralmbahn can be reached in a short time with the Stubaitalbahn directly from Innsbruck. A ski bus also runs from Innsbruck or from the western low mountain ranges (Axams, Birgitz, Götzens).
