My Velorum (μ Velorum, short μ Vel) is a binary star system 116 light years away in the constellation Vela .

The first component, My Velorum A, is a yellow giant star of spectral class G5 III with an apparent magnitude of +2.69 mag. On My Velorum A, solar flares could be detected , which is unusual for a yellow giant .

The yellow dwarf My Velorum B, the companion of the main star, is a sun-like star with an apparent magnitude of around +6.6 mag. The two stars are 0.7  arc seconds apart and orbit each other every 116.24 years.
