Myth
Mythor was a German Fantasy - Heftroman series, the 1980-1985 first weekly and later biweekly published by Pabel-Moewig appeared. Between 2000 and 2002 Weltbild-Verlag published the first 51 novels in a hardcover edition of the first cycle of novels in 17 volumes, which was revised by Hubert Straßl . In October 2000 he wrote the history of the series with Fluch der Schattenzone as a bound novel by Moewig Fantastic . The ten novels of the Schattenland cycle were published from 2009 to 2010 in an edited new edition as five paperback books by FanPro-Verlag .
content
Mythor was published in a total of 192 volumes in booklet format. Mythor was (after Dragon ) the second attempt in Germany to establish a fantasy series comparable to Perry Rhodan . Many of the authors were also involved in Perry Rhodan , such as B. Peter Terrid , Hans Kneifel and Ernst Vlcek , others like Hubert Haensel , joined them later. 'Mythor' was created after exposés (action specifications), up to # 20 these came from William Voltz , then from Ernst Vlcek, from volume 182–183 from Hans Kneifel & Horst Hoffmann and from # 184 from Werner K. Giesa .
After the fantasy boom of the early 1980s subsided, the series also came to an end. From the year 2000, the Weltbild publishing group published a new edition in book form, which was discontinued after 17 volumes (with the end of the Gorgan cycle).
Mythor is the name of the main hero who seeks his own position as the "son of the comet" in the first fifty-one novels (Gorgan cycle) in a more classic fantasy world. In issues up to and including # 99, he moves across the strictly matriarchal southern world to the “witch's star” at the South Pole, where he meets his female counterpart, Fronja, the daughter of the comet.
The following fifty novels are divided into the journey into the world of demons in 40 novels , partly influenced by the imagery of Dante's Inferno (shadow zone cycle, 100 - 139) and the one on the decisive battle between light and darkness (Allumeddon, # 139) following search for Mythors himself and on the part of the publisher for new readers (Aegyrland cycle). With volume 150 begins a new short cycle of ten novels, which was accompanied by a board game delivered in episodes and which is supposed to show the episodes of Allumeddon (Drachenland cycle). The Aygyrland cycle appeared as a 'Schattenland' cycle from 2009 in a new edition edited by Rainer Nagel as paperbacks by FanPro Verlag.
This is followed, projected up to volume 200, with which dimensional journeys should begin, the search for the chapters of the “Book of Nightmares”, a race against the antagonists on the part of darkness, which comes to an early conclusion with volume 192 (BDA cycle). The already completed novel 193 (Nykerien erwacht) by author Hubert Haensel appeared outside the series in issue 36 (1986), the concept for later novels in issue 37 (1987) of the magazine for Fantastik Magira of the First German Fantasy Club EDFC .
Impact history
The First German Mythor Club EDMC, predecessor of the Verein der Freunde Myras VFM e. V., motivated its members to be active in the field of fantasy in the 1980s . Several authors made their first literary steps here, such as Christel Scheja , author of several Aventuria novels based on The Black Eye , Verena Themsen , now the team author of the Perry Rhodan series, or the successful author of historical novels and youth fantasy, Kai Meyer . Others have turned professionally to equipping historical simulations or aligning LARPs .
The Mythor series has been the historical background of the literary project Myra since 1983 , in which some of these stories are updated. For a short time in the late 1990s , PeliCorn also released a Mythor-based commercial mail game, or Play by Mail, Vangor PBM.
