Ernst Vlcek
Ernst Vlcek (born January 9, 1941 in Vienna ; † April 22, 2008 in Brunn am Gebirge ) was an Austrian science fiction writer who also wrote under the pseudonym Paul Wolf (others were Alfred C. Curtis, Regine Lysanek, Adam Rice and Esther Maria Schreyer).
Ernst Vlcek completed a commercial apprenticeship and worked in various skilled trades before he made his living as a representative for duplicating machines and office machines. When he got the opportunity to make a living from writing, he gave up this profession in 1970. He wrote his first work in 1963 in a team with Helmuth W. Mommers (two collections of short stories, published in 1964).
In addition to numerous series-independent short stories and novels, Ernst Vlcek wrote for decades for the Perry Rhodan series and from 1971 to 1974 for its Atlan offshoot . His first Perry Rhodan paperback was published in 1968 (No. 46, Planet under Quarantine ), the first Atlan booklet in 1971 (No. 22), and the first Perry Rhodan booklet also in 1971 (No. 509). For the Perry-Rhodan-Hefte 1211 to 1999 he was an exposé author .
Ernst Vlcek was also the author and exposé author for the fantasy magazine series Mythor .
He also designed the Demon Killer series, which is still being continued in book form today together with the spin-off Coco Zamis . For this he contributed exposés and novels. He had recently revised and completed the Star Saga series, which was published in book form from 2007 , co-wrote the SunQuest series and published short stories in various publishers.
Ernst Vlcek died unexpectedly of sudden heart failure in Brunn am Gebirge . He had been married to his wife Regina since 1965 and had two sons.
In 2009 he was posthumously awarded the Kurd-Laßwitz Prize for Lifetime Achievement.
