The steam locomotive series NÖLB 1 was a tank locomotive series of the Niederösterreichische Landesbahnen (NÖLB).

history

The NÖLB procured nine of these small tank locomotives for the operation of the routes they opened in 1903. They were first designated with 100-105, from 1905 as  1.01-09 . The 100 was bought second-hand from the Münz construction company , and the following were ordered directly from Krauss in Linz . They took care of the light route service and ran both freight and passenger trains.

When the BBÖ took over the NÖLB in 1922, the nine machines were classified as  184.01-09 and mostly used in the shunting facility in Hütteldorf .

In 1938 the Deutsche Reichsbahn took over three more copies as 88.001–003. After the Second World War, the ÖBB only had one machine left, the former NÖLB 1.05, BBÖ 184.05 and DR 88.003, which it now referred to as  88.01 and which it was not finally decommissioned until 1968. This machine was preserved in the Strasshof Railway Museum .
