Nürburgring race

The Nürburgring run was a fun run in Nürburg on the Nürburgring track , which took place for the first time in 1978. From 2004 to 2015 he was part of the multi-sport event Rad & Run am Ring , which was held in late summer and is organized by an event group consisting of RC Herschbroich and eventwerkstatt GmbH .

history

The Nürburgring race was founded in 1978 by the running pioneers Ernst van Aaken and Manfred Steffny and organized by the Rhineland Athletics Association until 2000. After it was canceled in the years 2001 to 2003, it was brought back to life by the event association in 2004 as Run am Ring and supplemented with the Rad am Ring cycling event . The run took place for the last time in 2015.

Nürburgring run / run on the ring

The main run ran over 24.4 km and ran clockwise over the shortened Grand Prix track and the legendary Nordschleife . A total of around 500  vertical meters had to be mastered, of which almost 300 were on the ascent from Breidscheid at km 12 to the Hohe Acht at km 16.

There were also two shorter runs on the Grand Prix track with a length of 5.137 km (one lap) and 10.274 km (two laps), in which there was a separate evaluation for students, as well as a Bambini run.

Wheel on the ring

The Rad am Ring cycling event includes a 24-hour race (also for teams of two, four and eight), three everyone races over 25 km, 75 km and 150 km on the Nordschleife and a 24-hour race for mountain bikers (also for teams of two, four and eight) on a 7 km loop between the Grand Prix track and the Nürburg . In addition, an international one-day race in UCI category 1.1 will be held for the first time in 2016 .
