NACOBTA

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NACOBTA ( Namibia Community Based Tourism Assistance Trust ) was a community project in Namibia . It was founded in 1995 as a non-profit and non-governmental organization by local tourism companies whose businesses became members of the project. NACOBTA was the umbrella organization for locally organized tourism activities in Namibia .

In 2005 NACOBTA had 58 members.

The project helped parts of the local population to participate in Namibia's tourism potential. Tourism was developed as a possible source of income where job opportunities did not exist due to insufficient infrastructure development. The projects established as part of NACOBTA dealt with topics such as campsites, sales of regional handicrafts and tourist tours. In addition, the mediation of further training offers and donors was organized for the actors involved.

In the course of the activities, we worked closely with nature conservation organizations and projects, including the Community-Based Natural Resource Management Program .
