The NPD Thuringia is the regional association of the right-wing extremist National Democratic Party of Germany in Thuringia . The regional association of Thuringia formally consists of 17 district associations.

development

In the state elections in Thuringia in 2009 , the NPD Thuringia received 4.3 percent, in the state elections in Thuringia in 2014 3.6 percent of the valid state or second votes cast . In the local elections in Thuringia in 2014 , the NPD in Thuringia received 60 seats. This number decreased in the course of the electoral term as a result of departures or transfers and resignations.

Tobias Kammler replaced Patrick Wieschke as party chairman in January 2015 . Thorsten Heise was state chairman from February 2017 to November 2018 . In April 2018 two journalists from Göttingen, after taking photos of Heise's house in Fretterode , were attacked by two suspects accused as a result (the son of Heise and the NPD functionary Gianluco B., who is considered Heise's political foster son), robbed and injured. Patrick Weber from Sondershausen has been the new state chairman since November 2018 . He is a long-term member of the state executive committee and has in the past u. a. as (co-) organizer of right-wing rock events in Sondershausen (" Thuringian Day of National Youth " and "In Motion").

Individual district associations and leaders of the Thuringian National Association of the NPD regularly organize various right-wing rock events in and outside Thuringia with Germany and Europe-wide mobilization of right-wing extremists (e.g. Heise organizes the "Eichsfeldtag" in Leinefelde and the "Schild und Schwert" festival in Ostritz , Saxony , the Gera district association and its chairman Gordon Richter organize " Rock for Germany " in Gera ). The state party headquarters is located in the so-called "Flieder Volkshaus" in Eisenach , which is used by the NPD Thuringia for various party and private events (e.g. song and lecture evenings).

According to estimates by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Thuringia, the number of members of the regional association was around 170 in 2016 and 2017. The number of members has been falling in recent years.

The neo-Nazi from Greiz and co-founder of THÜGIDA David Köckert was a member of the NPD Thuringia from 2014 to 2017, for which he was in the meantime regional organization manager.

The Thuringian Ministry of the Interior feared a radicalization of the NPD.
