history

Predecessor organizations

THÜGIDA, short for "Thuringia against the Islamization of the West", was a group that had been active in Thuringia since March 2015 and had developed from the organization "South Thuringia against the Islamization of the West" (SÜGIDA), which was predominantly active in Suhl . The founder and most important organizer of THÜGIDA was the former NPD functionary David Köckert . The group acted as a reservoir for the right-wing extremist spectrum and included members of the small parties NPD, Dierechte and Der III. Weg as well as members of the European Action as well as individual neo-Nazis and Reich citizens .

The group made its appearance primarily with asylum and anti-immigration gatherings in various places in Thuringia and, from 2016, expanded its field of activity in neighboring federal states. After the meetings in 2015 were still very popular and were initially able to address parts of bourgeois society, there was a loss of importance from March 2016, which reduced the participants at THÜGIDA events to a right-wing extremist core in the course of the year.

In parallel to THÜGIDA, various groups operating as “citizens' initiatives” such as “We love East Thuringia”, “We love Gera” or “We love the Saale-Holzland district” emerged, especially in East Thuringia. Although these groups initially tried to portray themselves as independent, they were parts of THÜGIDA.

Foundation and first activities

In the second half of 2016, there was increased public cooperation between THÜGIDA and the group “We love Saxony”. In October of the same year the two groups merged and founded the association “THÜGIDA & Wir liebe Sachsen e. V. “based in Greiz . The entry was made at Greiz District Court . David Köckert became the club's chairman.

But the founding of the association could not stop the loss of importance, and the previous function as a cross-curricular reservoir for the right-wing extremist scene in Thuringia was largely lost. Attempts to counteract this through a nationwide network and the establishment of appropriate structures largely failed. After the number of participants in the association's rallies was mostly in the lower double-digit range, the association's public activities largely came to a standstill in the second half of 2017. The last rally took place on August 17th in Apolda .

At the end of August, the association announced that it was planning to change the course of its activities. In the future, demonstrations and rallies should be dispensed with here and the focus should instead be on the “A people helps themselves” project. In the project initiated in 2016, which calls for donations in kind, according to the association's own information, needy Germans are to be supported, whom the association sees socially disadvantaged compared to migrants. Furthermore, in the course of the course change, new subject areas should be developed, such as alternative medicine and self-care. In connection with this, the board of the association was reorganized and the previous chairman, David Köckert, did not stand in the new board elections on October 21.

Programmatic orientation

The association casts doubt on the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Germany .

There is a rejection of immigration and asylum policy, and also from a umvolkung is spoken. The United States is identified as the main cause of current refugee flows through its supposed overturning plans.

Further programmatic points are the demands for referendums, better family support for traditional families consisting of “husband and wife with several children”.

In terms of foreign policy, the association is critical of the United States and advocates turning to Russia , which is seen as a natural partner for Germany.
