The NSB Ska Type 5 , which was later called NSB Ska 205 , is a light accumulator - rail tractor built in two copies , which was used from 1936 on the routes of the Norges Statsbaner ( German  Norwegian State Railways ) in Norway . The two locomotives were used for smaller transport tasks and for shunting on connecting railways and in the train stations.

history

The locomotives were built by Norsk Elektrisk & Brown Boveri (NEBB), with the Thunes mekaniske factory of Norsk Maskin Industri producing the mechanical part. The batteries were from the Accumumulatoren Factory A / G of Norsk accumulator Co A / S delivered. The electrical part was built by NEBB in the same design as four previous accumulator locomotives that were delivered to Sørlandsbane for tunnel operation.

A mercury vapor rectifier with a 220 V / 3-phase half-bridge circuit , which delivered direct current with an amperage of 60  A , was supplied with the locomotives . The manufacturer was BBC Gleichrichter GmbH Berlin . The rectifier was in a separate charging station at Narvik train station . The rectifier's glass bulb can now be seen in the Ofoten Museum in Narvik.

The trailer load of the rail tractors was dependent on the speed driven.

The plans for the two vehicles were still under the name NSB Ska Type 5 . The number 1 was still delivered under this name and was not officially renamed the NSB Ska 205 series until 1942 . The number 2 was designated as NSB Ska 205 from the time of delivery .

Use and whereabouts

The two locomotives were delivered from Trondheim to Narvik by steamship Trondheim on September 12, 1936 . They were assigned to the local railway depot .

The main area of application was shunting. One of the tasks was to provide the CF wagons for the train driver and the passenger transport for the respective ore train. The train driver was responsible for checking the brake pressure and was also responsible for checking tickets. These CF wagons were carried by the ore trains for school children who lived along the route.

Ska 205 2 was handed over to the Stavanger district in 1961 and used there in Nærbø station.

The Ska 205 1 was officially decommissioned in 1971, but still used in some cases. In 1977 he was accepted into the "Utvalget for teknisk museum i Narvik" ( German  selection for the Technical Museum Narvik ). Nevertheless, it was dismantled in Fagernes in the early 1980s .

Ska 205 2 was taken out of service by NSB around 1990. The members of the Norsk Jernbaneklubb prevented the scrapping and should be taken over by the association. In 2010 the locomotive was in Notodden . In 2016, after a total dismantling, a reconstruction of the machine began.
