On August 3, 1962, Campbell Press Limited was founded. Up to its current name, the company had to accept six changes of name:

- renamed Central & Southern Holdings Limited on August 17, 1994 ,
- renamed W & H Newspapers Limited on November 12, 1997 ,
- renamed APN New Zealand Limited on March 12, 2003 ,
- on January 5, 2015 in NZME. Publishing Limited renamed
- Renamed to NZME Publishing Limited on September 30, 2016 .
Ownership
The company is owned by APN Holdings NZ Limited , which in turn is wholly owned by Wilson & Horton Limited . Wilson & Horton, on the other hand, is owned by the Australian Provincial Newspapers International Pty Limited , behind which the Australian APN News & Media Limited (APN) is.
