Nader Ahriman
Nader Ahriman ( 1964 in Shiraz ) is a painter of Iranian origin living in Germany. Since 2018 he has been a professor of painting at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art .
; *life and work
Nader Ahriman studied at the Stuttgart Art Academy from 1988 to 1994 and then took part in the "PS1 Artist-in-Residence Program" at the Contemporary Art Center in New York . Today he lives and works in Berlin.
In the late 1980s, he created his paintings, in which he detached themes from art history that are “about balancing a connection between aesthetics and content, spirit and matter”. His connection to artists such as Chirico and Carrà , but also to William Blake and Philip Guston , can be clearly seen.
Between 1997 and 1999 his group of works “All Wittgenstein's Children” was created. The works refer to the break in modern Western thinking marked by the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein . Wittgenstein worked as an architect for a while, as Ahriman's architectural configurations point to.
Quote
“ Nader Ahriman is a current representative of a multicultural discussion of our cultural background. He is currently trying to incorporate the various languages of an 'old' and 'new world' into painting, thereby intensifying the painterly confrontation between form and content. Ahriman's works show narrative elements, which at the same time allow the narrative to appear in a strongly metaphorically charged atmosphere. In sometimes very large formats, he develops worlds of peculiar narrative strands that combine complex and far-reaching motifs. "
