Nagoum Yamassoum

Nagoum Yamassoum (* 1954 ) was Prime Minister of Chad from 1999 to 2002 .

Political career

He became Prime Minister on December 13, 1999 under Idriss Déby , who has ruled since 1990 . He was previously President of the Constitutional Court (Conseil constitutionell) formed on April 29, 1999 . In this office on January 6, 2000, the future Prime Minister Pascal Yoadimnadji was his successor. He belongs to the Mouvement Patriotique du Salut (MPS) party, which won the parliamentary elections on April 21, 2002.

He resigned as head of government on June 12, 2002. During the term of office of Prime Minister Moussa Faki he became Foreign Minister and Minister for African Integration and Deputy Head of Government on June 25, 2003 until a government reshuffle on August 7, 2005. During his time as Foreign Minister he sought international aid for the approximately 130,000 refugees, who fled from Sudan to Chad because of the conflict in Darfur . He was involved in mediation talks between the conflicting parties there several times.
