Ascent history

In October 1970, a British expedition attempted the first ascent of Nampa. The ascent route led over the south wall and the west ridge up to an altitude of 6250  m .

The first ascent of Nampa was finally achieved by a Japanese expedition from Aomori Prefecture in 1972. On May 5, Susumu Takahashi and Kukuju Kimura climbed the summit. The ascent route also led over the south wall and the west ridge. Takahashi had a fatal accident on the descent.
