Nanceen Perry

Nanceen Lavern Perry (born April 19, 1977 in Fairfield , Texas ) is an American athlete who appeared as a sprinter at the turn of the millennium . She started for the Texas Longhorns of the University of Texas at Austin and was 1.76 m tall and had a competition weight of 68 kg.

Perry won four league titles:

  • 1997: University hall championship 200 m in 23.10 s
  • 1998 and 1999: University championship 4 × 100 m
  • 2000: Indoor championship 200 m in 22.65 s

On June 5, 1999, she ran 100 meters in Boise with a personal best of 11.15 s. In the eliminations for the 2000 Olympic Games , she only came in 6th with 11.18 s, but was able to qualify as third over 200 meters in 22.38 s. In Sydney she could not match this performance and had to end the competition prematurely in a moderate 23.16 seconds as the last of her semifinals.

As a member of the US 4 x 100 meter relay , which was composed of Chryste Gaines , Torri Edwards , Nanceen Perry as 3rd runner and Marion Jones behind the teams from the Bahamas (gold in 41.95 p.) and from Jamaica (silver in 42.13 s) came 3rd in 42.20 s, she won bronze. The medal was revoked from her and the other runners after Marion Jones was convicted of doping , but later returned due to a successful lawsuit.

Today Nanceen Perry works as a school psychologist in Mexia .
