Napoleon Dihmes

Napoleón Dihmes Pablos (born November 12, 1928 in La Romana , † February 28, 2006 in Miami ) was a Dominican opera singer (tenor).

Life

Dihmes had his first lessons with Emilio Sánchez Martínez before he was a student of Dora Martén at the Academia de Canto of La Voz Dominicana from 1950 . In 1951 he made his debut with the Noche de Ópera , organized by the Dirección General de Bellas Artes in the Teatro Olimpia , in roles from Verdi's Rigoletto , Aida and La traviata .

In the following years he performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional under the direction of Ricardo Caggiano and Manuel Simó . In 1956 he appeared in a television production of the opera Cavalleria rusticana under the direction of José Dolores Cerón as Turiddo alongside Violeta Stephen and Tony Curiel .

He was also a successful interpreter of popular music. He had live, radio and television appearances in his home country, the USA, Cuba, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia and many European countries. From 1960 to the mid-1970s he directed his own TV show El show de Napoleón Dihmes in the Dominican Republic , where he presented his repertoire from bolero to opera aria.
