Narcissus scaberulus is a plant from the family of the Amaryllis (Amaryllidaceae). It is one of the smallest types of daffodils ( Narcissus ) and is placedin the Apodanthae sectionby the botanist John W. Blanchard .

Appearance

Narcissus scaberulus grows as a perennial herbaceous plant and reaches a height of 5 to 20 centimeters. Up to five flowers are formed per gold-like inflorescence . The bright yellow flowers are only 18 millimeters long. The secondary crown is only five millimeters high and seven millimeters wide. The leaves of the plant are two millimeters wide and have rough edges, which is reflected in the botanical species name (lat. Scaberulus = rough). In the natural locations, flowering begins as early as February.

distribution

Narcissus scaberulus has a very small range. It grows in the area of ​​the Montege river in Portugal . It occurs there mainly on granite soils, which are very moist during their growing season. In the summer, however, these soils dry out completely.
