Naser Minatschi ( Persian ناصر میناچی, * 1931 in Tehran ; † January 25, 2014 ibid) was an Iranian politician .

Career and activities

Naser Minatschi was one of the leaders of the bazaar traders during the reign of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and was a co-founder of the Hosseinieh Verschad , a non-traditional Islamic organization in Tehran. Minatschi was managing director of the facility until his death and at that time a leader of the Islamist opposition.

He was appointed Minister of Tourism in the interim government of Mehdi Bāzargān on February 4, 1979 . Until November 1979 he was also a member of the Revolutionary Council . He was then appointed Minister for Information and Public Relations in the Transitional Cabinet. The occupiers of the US Embassy in Tehran called for the arrest of the Minister of Information, Minachi. They accused him of being a CIA agent. Minatschi was arrested by the militia in early February 1980. After Bazargan intervened, he was released.

Under the presidency of Abolhassan Banisadr , Nasser Minatschi became Minister of Culture and National Leadership (Shhad). He died of heart failure on January 25, 2014 and was buried in the Hosseinieh-Verkhad Mosque.
