Natal de Carvalho Baroni , called Natal in Italy also Diabo Loiro (blond devil), (born November 24, 1945 in Belo Horizonte , Minas Gerais ), is a former Brazilian football player . As a player, he stood for speed, dribbling and a strong shot. Natal changed clubs several times in his career. Most of the games he played for the Cruzeiro EC from Belo Horizonte.

Cruzeiro

Natal won a few titles with Cruzeiro's youth division, playing alongside Dirceu Lopes and Pedro Paulo . Natal said when he started out: "I started in Itaú looking for my place to become a professional player. I was invited to a test at Cruzeiro and I got through." Although active for the club since 1963, he was listed as a professional player from 1965. In that year he was able to win the state championship of Minas Gerais for the first time . He was able to celebrate this success with the team five times in a row. Natal was also able to celebrate the Taça Brasil in 1966 . The FC Santos with Pele , who won the contest from 1961 to 1965 every year, was defeated in two games. The first national soccer competition in Brazil. The winners of the Taça Brasil were considered to be Campeões at the time. In 2010 the winners were officially recognized as Brazilian champions by the national association .

Natal maintained the bohemian lifestyle and was considered a playboy. He preferred convertibles and was often accompanied by women. He was considered charismatic and the fans loved him in particular because of his strong games against local rivals Atlético Mineiro . Also to the chagrin of his mother, who was a fan of Atlético. His best game was the second leg in Taça Brasil in 1966 against Santos.

Corinthians

Natal came to Corinthians São Paulo on loan in 1971 to play for 14 months, but only stayed two months. His debut with the Alvinegra jersey came on March 9, 1971, when Corinthians beat Marília AC 2-1 in a friendly. Soon in his debut scored a goal. Again he played against Marília and scored a goal from a penalty. That was the only goal Natal scored for Corinthians. Natal only played ten games with Alvinegra , including four wins, four draws and two defeats. A victory over local rivals Palmeiras São Paulo on April 25, 1971 was considered particularly important . The meeting was won by Corinthians 4: 3. On May 1, 1971, when Corinthians won 1-0 against EC São Bento in the state championship of São Paulo , Natal was the last time for Corinthians on the field.

End of career

Natal retired from his career in 1981 at the age of 34 when he played for Vila Nova FC . He then went on extensive tours in Brazil to start a coaching career, but initially received no offers. Natal reported about his engagements: "It is very difficult to be a soccer coach in small teams, they don't want anything that is difficult," he complained. Natal has coached at clubs in the Northeast such as CS Sergipe , ABC Natal and Clube do Remo and others. In Minas Gerais , the former player commanded EC Mamoré and Villa Nova , but the former striker did not attract much attention as a coach. About that time he said: "Here in Minas Gerais there is something that is difficult to understand and accept. Teams from Minas just want to beat Atletico and Cruzeiro. They are preparing all their plans to win against the big two. So it was in my time at Mamoré and Villa Nova. If you do a good campaign and you don't win Atlético and Cruzeiro, you are not good. It's very strange ".

He then started working as a scout for Cruzeiro, watching young players who could play in the club's basic categories. Commenting on his job, he said: "I go to tournaments outside of Belo Horizonte , go to the seven smaller clubs, work on spotting new players." Natal realized it at the difficulties of great talents for Brazilian teams discover . "Today there is a lot more quantity than quality. It's very difficult to find great players. You see 100 players and you take two or three. That was my biggest difficulty in discovering players." Natal guaranteed that he will not think about continuing his previous career. "Not at all, I don't want to be a coach anymore. I'm very happy and fulfilled with what I'm doing today, I don't want to suffer as a coach again," he said.

Natal has three children and three granddaughters. He currently lives in Belo Horizonte after having lived in João Pessoa, Paraíba for several years, where he was married for the fourth time.
