Natalia Stanislavovna Vieru ( Russian: Наталья Станиславовна Виеру ; born July 25, 1989 in Chisinau ) is a Russian basketball player. She is a member of the Russian national team and took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . Natalia Vieru has played for the Russian club UMMC Ekaterinburg since 2015 as a center.
With six first places in the Fiba Euroleague Women, Natalia Vieru is next to Diana Taurasi the player with the most titles.
National team
Natalia Vieru began her national team career at the U18 European Championship in 2006. In 2007 she became a bronze medalist at the U18 European Championship and was part of the tournament's “starting five”. In 2008 she won the championship title at the U20 European Championship and was elected MVP of the tournament. In 2009 she represented Russia at the U20 European Championship.
She made her debut for the Russian national team in 2008. Since then, she has participated in the 2010 World Cup and the 2013 , 2015 , 2017 and 2019 European Championships . At the 2012 Olympic Games , the team came fourth.
With her height of 2.00 m, Vieru is currently the tallest player in the Russian women's national team.
