In November 2006 Gauci was invited to Los Angeles as a member of the Oz City Song Circle , where she was able to perform for the first time in front of an American audience with other Australian artists.

Around 2006/2007 she founded the Natalie Gauci Band with Kumar Shome, Jules Pascoe and Conrad Tracey , in which she took over the vocals and played the keyboard . The style of the band, which has performed several times in the Melbourne area , includes soul , pop and jazz .

Gauci also worked as a music teacher at the Academy of Mary Immaculate in Fitzroy, a district of Melbourne.

Australian idol

Natalie Gauci took part in the casting in Melbourne ( Victoria ). It was voted into the top 24 by the jury, but couldn't get enough audience votes to make it into the top 12. In the wildcard show , too , she did not get enough votes, which is why Carl Riseley and Gauci were finally selected into the top 12 via the jury “wildcards”.

In the course of the Top 12 appearances, she received three of the coveted Mark Holden “ Touchdowns ” for Rihanna's “Umbrella”, Divinyls ' “Boys in Town” and Ella Fitzgerald's “How High the Moon”.

On November 12, 2007 she was elected as the first candidate in the final with Matt Corby and as one of only three Australian candidates who have reached the final as a "wildcard". She recorded the winning single "Here I Am" with Matt Corby at Kings Cross Studio in Sydney and sang it in the finals after she was announced as the season winner. The maxi single was released on November 28, 2007. She is the first candidate to ever win the Australian Idol as a "wildcard".
