Natalija Kočergina from Visaginas was initially a cross-country skier. In 2003 she contested her first FIS race in Kremnica . The Nordic Junior World Championships 2005 in Rovaniemi became the first international championship in which Kočergina was 64th in the double pursuit, 68th in the classic sprint and 57th in the 5 km freestyle race. Between 2007 and 2009 further international assignments followed in the Baltic countries as part of the Scandinavian Cup . The Lithuanian could not achieve any top placements. She continued to enjoy national success and secured the title of 5 km in free style at the roller-ski championships in Ignalina in summer 2010 .
At the end of the decade, Kočergina switched from cross-country skiing to biathlon. At the national championships in July 2010, she finished second behind Diana Rasimovičiūtė in the sprint. In Duszniki-Zdrój she took part in the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2010 and started with her first international championships in biathlon. In the sprint she finished 29th and was in the pursuit race based on it 27th. Since the beginning of the 2012/2013 season , Natalija Kočergina has been part of the Lithuanian World Cup team in biathlon. At the sprint race in Oberhof she was able to win world cup points for the first time with rank 35. A year later she managed to finish 30th in her second point win in the World Cup.
