The Austrian television broadcaster Puls 4 produced and broadcast three episodes of a talk show under the title Natascha Kampusch meets , moderated by Natascha Kampusch , who became famous for her long-standing kidnapping . The show was first broadcast on June 1, 2008.

background

At the end of 2007 it was announced that the media group SevenOne Media would take over the Viennese television station Puls TV. After the program schedule had been presented, it was announced that Natascha Kampusch would receive her own program, which should start in April 2008. The working title at the time was Natascha Kampusch in conversation with… . In a press release, Kampusch said she wanted to hold talks with extraordinary personalities . In addition, the website Nataschas Welt was set up .

Shortly before the start of the new TV channel Puls 4, Kampusch did not find himself among the new moderators. According to managing director Martin Blank , the date for the first broadcast of the show was not yet set, although test programs had already been produced with Kampusch. In the media there was increased skepticism about the start of the show.

The date of the first broadcast was fixed at the end of April. Pulse 4 announced that the interview took place a long time ago. On June 1, the first episode ran over the screens, the studio guest was the former Formula 1 world champion Niki Lauda . The station N24 , which also belongs to ProSiebenSat.1, broadcast an abridged version of the Lauda-Talks on June 11th.

According to pulse 4, a total of six episodes were initially planned.

reception

The first broadcast was followed by 114,000 people. The broadcaster presented this quota as good, the media saw it as rather weak. The market share was 4.7% - the best since the start of Puls 4 at the beginning of 2008. The Austrian broadcasting stations achieved a total share of 41%, leaving Puls 4 far behind. Nevertheless, the Viennese rival broadcaster ATV was overtaken. Even before the first show, Natascha Kampusch was excited about the reactions from the media. Despite the looming criticism, these were overall positive.

While interviews with Kampusch appeared in many Austrian print media in the run-up to the premiere broadcast, the two subsequent talks with Stefan Ruzowitzky and Veronica Ferres were hardly advertised.

In mid-November 2008 there were rumors that Puls 4 was planning to discontinue the format. A Puls-4 spokeswoman and one of Natascha Kampusch's managers contradicted this in the Austrian daily newspaper on November 20, 2008: “There are ideas for a realignment. Ms. Kampusch would like a new program focus. The show will definitely continue. ”Puls-4 managing director Markus Breitenecker said in an interview at the end of January 2009 that it was“ possible, but open ”whether Kampusch will return to the screen.
