Markus Breitenecker

Markus Breitenecker (born November 28, 1968 in Vienna ) is an Austrian media manager. He is the managing director of the ProSieben / Sat1 / Puls 4 broadcasting group in Austria.

Life

Markus Breitenecker was born as the son of the university professor and pathologist Gerhard Breitenecker and attended high school in Döblingen . After graduating from high school , he began to study law at the University of Vienna , which he completed with a master's degree. He then continued his education at the London School of Economics and was assistant to Rudi Klausnitzer, then General Director of the United Theaters in Vienna .

In 1996 he became managing director of the newly founded TV channel Der Wetterkanal , and soon afterwards he was poached by the then chairman of the ProSieben board, Georg Kofler . Breitenecker has been Managing Director there since ProSieben Austria was founded in 1998. In 2007 he took over the Viennese city broadcaster Puls TV with the ProSiebenSat1 Group , the station was subsequently renamed Puls 4 . In 2017, the TV broadcaster ATV was added to the ProSieben / Sat1 / Puls4 -Austria group .

He was named Media Manager of the Year by the specialist magazine Der Österreichische Journalist in 2013 and 2017 . For the program idea for the program 2 Minuten 2 Mio. - The Puls 4 Start Up Show , he and his team were awarded a Romy at the 2015 Romy Awards. In 2017 he was elected Marketer of the Year 2016 by the Austria section of the International Advertising Association (IAA) at the Effie Awards .

Breitenecker is deputy chairman of the Association of Austrian Private Broadcasters (VÖP) and on the board of the Teletest Working Group (AGTT).
