Association of Austrian Private Broadcasters
The Association of Austrian Private Broadcasters (VÖP) is an association based in Vienna. The circle of members consists of private broadcasters in Austria.
The association sees itself as a partner in politics, as a cooperation partner for other associations (e.g. Association of Austrian Newspapers , Austrian Chamber of Commerce ) and as a contact for the regulatory authority KommAustria . The VÖP now represents all major private broadcasting companies active on the Austrian market.
history
The association was founded in 1993. At that time there were seven member companies. In 2003 it was integrated into the office of the WKÖ's Telecom Broadcasting Association. In the course of time, in addition to the private radio stations, private television broadcasters were added, and from 2008 the membership was expanded to include radio and TV marketers. In 2009 the integration into the professional association Telekom-Rundfunk of the WKÖ was dissolved and a separate business apparatus was set up.

aims
The main goals are:
- Expansion of the dual broadcasting system in Austria and creation of fair competitive conditions and equal opportunities between private broadcasters and the ORF
- Establishment of a fund for the promotion of private broadcasters ("media promotion")
- Optimization of cooperation with partners of private broadcasters by renegotiating framework agreements in certain areas and strengthening the profitability of private broadcasters
- Active support of the technological development in the interests of and as an advisor to the members
- Presentation of the economic and journalistic importance of the private broadcasting industry in Austria
criticism
In September 2014 ATV ended its membership in the VÖP. From the point of view of ATV , the VÖP exclusively represents the interests of the broadcasting group Pro7 Austria / Puls 4 / Sat1 Austria . Specifically, ATV is about the fact that the ATV2 station cannot be received on all platforms.
