Nathan Sykes
Nathan James Sykes (born April 18, 1993 in Gloucester ) is an English pop singer. He became known as a member of the boy band The Wanted in the early 2010s , before embarking on a solo career in 2015.
Career
Nathan Sykes grew up in Gloucester in the west of England. Already at the age of six he showed a talent for the stage and won several singing competitions, including 2003 Britney Spears' Karaoke Kriminals , at which Britney Spears personally held the award ceremony. A year later he also took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest , but only finished 3rd in the national preliminary decision. At the age of eleven he was registered at the Sylvia Young Theater School . He moved to London to attend the renowned drama school and stayed there until he graduated.
Sykes was one of the first three singers to be cast for The Wanted in 2009 . Then two more members were added. From 2010 the band was particularly successful in Great Britain and Ireland. Before the third album, however, he had to undergo emergency throat surgery and the band had to take a break. Before the album was released, after his recovery, Sykes recorded a duet with Ariana Grande for the soundtrack to the film Chronicles of the Underworld - City of Bones . The song Almost Is Never Enough hit the charts in the United States and the British Isles. This was followed by the band album and the album tour at the end of 2013, but then The Wanted broke up .
Sykes signed a contract with Global Radio shortly afterwards and in early 2015 his first solo single More Than You'll Ever Know was released . In June he was not only successful at home with the song Kiss Me Quick , it also reached number 1 in the US dance club charts. Single number three Over and Over Again was a top 10 hit in England and in a version with Ariana Grande he had his second dance club hit in the US. It took until the end of 2016 until the solo debut album Unfinished Business was released. In the UK charts it reached number 11, in the US it was in the Heatseeker charts and came in at number 2.
