Nathan Tyson (born May 4, 1982 in Reading ) is an English football player who has been under contract with Wycombe Wanderers since 2017 .

Athletic career

Reading FC

Nathan Tyson went through the youth teams of his home club Reading FC and started his professional football career there. Since he was mostly only a substitute in Reading and could not distinguish himself in these short missions, he was awarded several times by his club to lower-class teams.

Wycombe Wanderers

Only after the fourth loan deal Tyson left Reading FC and joined the Wycombe Wanderers , for whom he had scored two goals in 10 league games since December 2003. In April 2004 he signed a two-year contract in Wycombe . In the 2004/05 season, Tyson finally achieved the breakthrough in the professional field. He became the top scorer at his new club by scoring 22 goals in 42 games in Football League Two . The start of the 2005/06 season was again excellent and after 15 games he was able to record eleven goals. This hit rate gave him the lead in the league's goal scorer list and also made him interesting for higher-class teams.

Nottingham Forest

In November 2005 he therefore moved on loan to Nottingham Forest , which had just been relegated to Football League One . By January 2006 he had also been able to convince the management of Forest and moved to Nottingham for £ 675,000 . Overall, he came this season in the third highest English division to 28 games and scored ten goals in these. After an injury, he had only seven goals in 22 games by the end of the 2006/07 season. The season was also unfortunate for Nottingham. Fourth place made it into the play-off round, but there the team failed in the semifinals against Yeovil Town .

2007/08 was all the more positive for the club. Forest reached 2nd place at the end of the season and thus moved directly into the Football League Championship . Tyson was able to contribute 9 hits in 34 league games. In the 2008/09 season , in which Nottingham secured relegation only on the penultimate matchday, Tyson scored only 5 goals in 35 league games and thus fell short of expectations. During the season he signed a new 2-year contract in January 2009. Under coach Billy Davies he came in the Football League Championship 2009/10 to 35 league games and scored two goals. He was often substituted on and missed with his team as third in the table the promotion in the first play-off round against the later promoted Blackpool FC .

Derby County

After another narrowly missed promotion in the 2010/11 season , Nathan Tyson moved to East Midlands rivals Derby County on a free transfer and received a three-year contract there.

English national team

In 2003 Tyson came to his only appearance in the England U-20 national team.
