The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center is an ice rink on the campus of St. Cloud State University (SCSU) in the US city ​​of St. Cloud , Minnesota . The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center offers two ice rinks according to the specifications of the IIHF (60.96 × 30.48 m) and associated functional rooms. The main arena was named after Brendan J. McDonald, a former president of the university, and seats 5,763. The spaces are located on two levels on the long sides, on one transverse side are VIP - lounges , a few extra seats on the other side. In 2000 and 2006 the arena was partially modernized, and in 2004 it received two new video screens. The second ice surface is connected to the main arena. It has several hundred spectator seats.

The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center is also used for other events. It offers space for around 7500 people. Expansion and modernization work began in 2009 in order to expand the center into a full-fledged ice hockey and event arena.

In April 2013, the ice rink was named after the trainer Herb Brooks , who died in 2003 and who was the head coach of the US national ice hockey team in the legendary Miracle on Ice against the Soviet national ice hockey team at the 1980 Winter Olympics and who also coached the ice hockey team at St. Cloud State University .
