The Alkhanai National Park ( Russian: Национальный парк Алханай , Nazionalny park Alkhanai) is a national park in Russia .
geography
Alkhanai National Park is located in Transbaikalia , Siberia , on the southern flank of the Mogoitui Mountains . Its highest point, the 1662 m high Alkhanai, gave the park its name and is located on its territory. The total area of the park is 138,234 hectares. Alkhanai is currently (2007) the easternmost national park in Russia.
Administratively, the territory of the park belongs to the Duldurga Raion of the Agin Buryat Autonomous Okrug , which became a federal subject in the Transbaikalia region on March 1, 2008 , but continues to have a special status within it. The management of the park is located in the village of Duldurga .
history
The Alkhanai National Park was established on the basis of a regional nature reserve founded in 1998 by the government of the Russian Federation on May 15, 1999. At the time of its creation, Alkhanai was the easternmost national park in Russia; In the meantime, however, national parks have also been set up in the Primorye region on the Pacific coast .
Goal setting
The national park is intended to protect and control the tourist use of typical mountain taiga landscapes in Transbaikalia - from the steppe to the taiga , as well as to preserve the Buryat places of worship and national sanctuaries located on its territory . There are also several medicinal springs .
