The Naturnser Hochwart or simply Hochwart ( Italian Guardia Alta , the suffix Naturnser used to distinguish the same name Bergen) is a 2608 m slm high mountain in Zufrittkamm the Ortler Alps .
Location and surroundings
The Hochwart is located in South Tyrol ( Italy ) and separates the Vinschger municipality Naturns from the Ulten St. Pankraz . It is a prominent mountain in the ridge that runs from southwest to northeast. In the northeast is the Naturnser Hochjoch ( 2474 m ), which is separated from the Hochwart by the Nörderscharte ( 2372 m ). If you follow the ridge in a south-westerly direction, you come to the Drei-Hirten-Spitze ( 2545 m ) and the Kreuzknöttler ( 2467 m ) before you descend to the Tablander Joch ( 2428 m ).
Climbs
The normal route to the summit takes place over the northeast ridge from the Nörderscharte up and is described in the literature as rocky but not difficult . The saddle, on the other hand, can be reached via several routes from the Vinschgau or from Ulten, but the easiest way is from the Vigiljoch , which is accessible by a cable car, in the northeastern foothills of the ridge. Another ascent to the summit of the Hochwart follows the southwest ridge.
