The Caenheide and Mittlere Niersaue nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the city of Straelen and the municipality of Wachtendonk in the Kleve district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area, which consists of two partial areas, extends southeast of the core town of Straelen and northwest of the core town of Wachtendonk along the Nette . The state road L 361 runs through the area. The A 40 runs to the south and the L 39 to the west.

For Straelen and Wachtendonk, a 369.43 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number KLE-007 since 1955 .
